Whip Stitch Hooded Vest

The vest pattern is written for 4 sizes.  Mary made this from homespun and recommends a heavy worsted weight yarn.  Many of us have tried the vest on and it is very flattering and a great addition to your wardrobe.

This sweater works up quickly and is so cute in Splash yarn.  It comes in such pretty colors.

We’ve done some rearranging and now when you enter the shop you will be greeted by a display of many of our hand knit items – these make awesome Christmas gifts.  Warm handknit socks would be welcomed by anyone who is trying to keep their heating costs down.  There are children and adult sweaters, socks, mittens, hats, scarfs, shawls and some felted bags.  We would be happy to help you make your selection or answer questions about fiber content of the article and/or sizing.  There are many different colors and patterns to choose from.  We hope you will enjoy our new display and there are still many hand knit items in the shop to choose from. 

For knitters or spinners on your gift list we have a variety of fibers to choose from and the different types of yarns is vast.  If you can’t decide or just don’t know what to get, we offer gift certificates!  Many men come in before a birthday, anniversary or Christmas to purchase one for their special someone. 

And speaking of handknit items:  Chris was in the shop today.  She has made some beautiful pillow covers!

 We had an  enjoyable meeting yesterday.  Spinning and knitting of beautiful fibers, food, conversation and laughs!

Don’t forget our monthly meeting is today, November 1st, at 1:00 pm, at the Methodist church on the green in Newport, NH.  We meet the first Sunday of each month, with the exception of August and October. 

On Wednesday we had a group of needle arts folks from the Danvers, MA area come to visit as part of their field trip.  They had been to ABC Stitchery in Grantham, then visited us, followed by lunch at Newport’s Salt Hill Pub (we love Salt Hill!), a stop at the Dorr Mill store and then returning to Massachusetts. 

The group consisted of people who knit, needle felt, cross stitch, crewel, sew and probably a few other things.  The needle felting was new to many of them and they were purchasing fiber for projects.  Shari sold quite of bit of her mohair.  Betty made cookies for our visitors to enjoy.  Tom took the pictures that you see.  They stayed for an hour and it was fun to have them.
