CHRIS’ PILLOWS

In a November post (see below) I told you about our friend Chris and her acceptance into the NH League of Craftsmen.  Below are pictures of her beautiful pillows.  Some are available at the League’s store in Concord and there are a couple of  ”seconds” at the shop.

NH LEAGUE OF CRAFTSMEN

Chris Alexander

CONGRATULATIONS to our friend Chris who has been accepted as a juried member of the New Hampshire League of Craftsmen!!  What a huge accomplishment – we are extremely proud and so very happy for her!!  Chris is the first person ever to go for a critique with the judges and have it turn into a juried session and be accepted right on the spot!   Her craft is making handspun, handknit, celtic design pillows.  Her yarn is made by spinning alpaca, llama or wool from local flocks and plying it with 100% cashmere and silk from yarn that is reclaimed from old sweaters.  This is an extremely time consuming project.  The end result is one of a kind yarn!  I have no photos of her pillows but have seen them both in progress and finished.  They are beautiful!

Chris is also working on The Masters Knitting Program through The Knitters Guild Association.  If you haven’t seen their magazine, CAST ON, it’s great.

Aside from her fiber talents, Chris is a very caring person who several years ago moved from her life in Wisconsin to care for her elderly parents in their home.   Her Dad is doing well for a man of 92 and is blessed to have Chris with him.  Her Mom recently passed away.   We admire you Chris and are happy to have you as a friend.

Looked to see if her pillows were up in Littleton this week! But, they didn’t have any!

Congrats, Chris, if I haven’t said so yet!! You deserve this honor! How are the pillows made – knitted, woven…? They are just gorgeous.

Those are gorgeous pillows! I’ll have to look for them at the league store in Concord. My acceptance into the League happened the exact same way nearly 7 yrs ago… a crituque session turned formal jury process turned instant acceptance all in an hour’s time! They’re known to do that when they see quality work and real talent. So while neither of us is the first to be so lucky we are certainly blessed to be recognized for our abilities!
