Yesterday the Sugar River Spinners celebrated the season – we had a great Christmas party with wonderful companionship, mouth watering food, a fiber quiz and a yankee swap. We really enjoy a good time!
Many thanks to the Episcopal church for hosting us.
- the party goers start to arrive
We had a stuffed turkey and gravy, a homegrown ham with ham gravy, mashed potatoes, squash, corn casserole, sweet potatoes, peas with onions, mac and cheese, homemade rolls, homemade brioche bread, homemade pickles, tossed salad, coleslaw, sauerkraut salad, cranberry sauce, brownies, Jewish apple cake and maple pumpkin cheesecake. I’m sure I’ve forgotten something. We all seem to enjoy cooking! and eating!
Anita prepared a fiber quiz for us – she had samples of 23 types of fibers and we were to figure out whether each one was from a plant, an animal or was it man made. Then you decided what plant or animal it was from and the breed, species or whatever.
Cliff (Shari’s spouse) was the winner in the non-spinner group and Sue Connary won in the spinners group.
Cindy won second place in the spinners group.
CONGRATULATIONS TO CLIFF, SUE AND CINDY!!
After a quick cleanup we all departed while snow flakes were spitting and the temperature was dropping.
I am very happy to be part of such a friendly, welcoming and diverse group of people.
